What

An informal meetup in San Francisco of people interested in information
security. Unlike other meetings, there are no dues, no signup, and no
vendor spiels. Expect to chat about security or anything else over drinks.

Why

It fills a gap, and we like to get together. In other cities, there are
regular professional meetups. We’re less formal than ISSA. Nobody takes
minutes. We just try to get to know the locals in our field.

When

A popular choice is something like the third Thursday of the month, but
it depends. The answers is determined on the BaySec mailing list, and is
published on this site. We try to avoid days when there’s a Giants home
game or that overlap with popular security cons. We sometimes schedule
to coincide with in-town security cons. The date-setting process is
somewhere between shotgun rules and benevolent dictatorship.

Where

Just like When, it depends and can be found on this site and the
mailing list. Past locations have included Zetigeist, 21st Amendment,
O’Neill’s Irish Pub, Pete’s Tavern, Gordon Biersch, and Kate O’Briens.

Who

We have a different set of people every time. It’s likely to include
people you have heard of and people you haven’t, but really should meet.
And hopefully you.
